The Centre de Physique Théorique de Grenoble-Alpes Research Federation (FR 3620) brings together a broad scientific community of approximately one hundred and twenty researchers distributed across fourteen units based in Grenoble and Annecy. The CPTGA addresses a wide range of topics in theoretical physics: condensed matter, statistical physics, soft matter, mathematical physics, particle physics, astrophysics, cosmology, and gravitation. It operates under Université Grenoble-Alpes and is affiliated with the CNRS (INP, IN2P3, INSMI, INSU), as well as with Université Savoie Mont Blanc.

The Grenoble-Alpes site brings together a large number of theoretical physicists located on the scientific polygon, on the university campus, and in Annecy. The CPTGA helps structure the community of theorists and strengthens its visibility at both national and international levels, promoting joint initiatives in support of theoretical research within this environment.

The CPTGA organizes regular conferences, an annual Theoretical Physics Day, and an Open Day for students. It also contributes to the organization of schools and workshops and hosts several high-level international researchers each year.

It is governed by an executive board whose members reflect the diversity of theoretical physics in the region and is directed by Aurélien Barrau (LPSC).

The CPTGA takes great care not to impose additional administrative burdens on the theoretical physics community. For this reason, calls for proposals are informal and concise. The very light procedures are described in the relevant sections of the website.
